Morocco joined SWA in 2016. Governance of the water sector in Morocco involves several ministerial departments and public institutions that ensure - each in its own way - fair and sustainable access to basic services, including drinking water supply, liquid sanitation and irrigation. This institutional scheme allows decision-making in a concerted and decentralized way. Regulatory bodies at central level intervene to endorse the decisions taken or to decide, if necessary, on possible disputes.
Commitments by the government
Improve the rate of sustainable access to drinking water in rural areas, with a view to roll-out.
