Practitioners and professionals from around the world convened in Brisbane, Australia for the WASH Futures 2016 Conference hosted by the International WaterCentre in partnership with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Australian WASH Reference Group. Themed “WASH Futures: Pathways to universal and sustained water, sanitation and hygiene”, the conference explored the cross-cutting issues of private sector participation in WASH, equity and WASH in the pacific. There were Keynote addresses delivered by Catarina de Albuquerque (SWA), Don Blackmore (IWMI & eWater), Bruce Gordon (WHO) and Nugroho Tri Utomo (BAPPENAS).
The five-day event took place 16-20 May at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, and featured over 80 informative presentations across seven thematic focus areas, and 18 training workshops, along with networking opportunities, and a trade exhibition.

The purpose of the session was both to update attendees on progress made in implementing SWA’s new strategy and preparing for the SDGs, and to provide a forum for potential new partners from South East Asia and the Pacific to learn more about SWA.
