Each year,SWA's Civil Society Organizations come together to to implement activities and deliver messages during Water Action Month (WAM). Grass root movements and CSOs form all over the world are undertaking activities to raise awareness and mobilize such as marches, local gatherings, media outreach, district level political forums, articles, social media campaigns etc.
WAM is led by End Water Poverty to raise awareness of safe water and sanitation. With global and regional events taking place in 2018 such as World Water Forum, the High-level Political Forum, SACOSAN and Africa Water Week, the success of this month will have a long-term effect.
The main messages of the campaign can be found here. They focus on the importance of having the right accountability mechanism in place to deliver safe water and sanitation, and pushes for further inclusion of CSOs within the implementation of the SDGs, and policy discussions.
