SWA’s Country Processes Task Team catalyses joint action to strengthen national sector capacities

SWA’s Country Processes Task Team (CPTT) was established by the Steering Committee in 2010. Since then it has contributed significantly to the evolution of the SWA partnership, initially through the National Planning for Results Initiative (NPRI), and more recently as the driving force behind the SWA Collaborative Behaviours, which now provide the keystone of SWA’s strategy.

The Task Team has seized on the momentum around the launch of the new SWA Strategy and governance structure to refresh its own Terms of Reference. Retaining its emphasis on strengthening government-led national processes, the Task Team will focus on ensuring the adoption of the Collaborative Behaviours by all SWA partners, to enable more effective country processes and strengthen national sector capacities for developing and sustaining universal access to safe water and sanitation for everyone, everywhere, forever.

Task Team members are currently contributing to a number of important activities; for example, the CPTT is collaborating closely with SWA’s Global Monitoring and Harmonisation Task Team (GMHTT) to identify indicators and processes for tracking progress against the Collaborative Behaviours. The CPTT is also working closely with other SWA platforms such as the High Level Political Dialogue Working Group to ensure SWA’s cycle of activities and meetings focus on facilitating accountability, learning and exchange to strengthen country processes and capacities.

The Task Team’s strength lies in its active and diverse membership, which brings together representatives from across SWA’s constituencies, including government representatives from Liberia, Niger, Burundi, South Sudan, Pakistan and elsewhere. As it moves forward, the CPTT is now looking to further strengthen and refresh its membership, in particular the representation and engagement of government partners. Membership is open to all those who share the Task Teams’ objectives and are willing to actively contribute organizational resources to support the Task Team’s work.
