17 Sep, 2019

SWA CEO, Catarina de Albuquerque, is currently  in Peru and Colombia to meet with the government and other partners. While Peru is already an SWA partner since 2017, SWA is hoping to persuade Colombia to join and follow the 8 Latin American and Caribbean countries that became partners in the last 3 years.

Peru and SWA

Peru is represented by the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation (MVCS). As a country partner, they have participated in the High Level Meetings since 2017 including the 2019 Sector Ministers’ Meeting in Costa Rica. Since 2017 SWA has been invited by the Peruvian government to support the water and sanitation agenda, the central axis of one of the development policies and for being a sector that shares responsibilities with other ministries such as the Ministry of Health (MINSA), Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (MIDIS), Ministry of Environment (MINAM) and Agencies such as the National Water Authority (ANA) and the National Superintendence of Sanitation Services (SUNASS)

The agenda during this visit to Peru and Colombia will be inequalities in access to water and sanitation, use of data and evidence for decision-making, and accountability between governments and other actors.
