Sanitation and Water for All has joined UN-Water, the coordination mechanism for over 30 United Nations organizations working on water and sanitation issues.

UN-Water members accepted SWA’s application to become a Partner with Special Status during the recent 29th UN-Water Meeting held in Stockholm.

Commenting on the news, Catarina de Albuquerque, SWA CEO said, “As a United Nations-hosted organization, we are excited to join the UN-Water family. It will further advance SWA’s pursuit of coordination, cooperation and efficiency among different stakeholders in the sector. The United Nations play a key role in addressing the global crisis caused by insufficient water supply to satisfy basic human needs and growing demands on the world’s water resources to meet human, commercial and agricultural needs. Recently examples include the dedicated water and sanitation SDG Goal, the focus on eliminating inequalities in access and recognizing the human rights to water and sanitation in 2010. We look forward to our future joint work within the UN-Water platform.”
