01 Aug 2014

During the 2014 edition of the World Water Week in Stockholm, SWA hosted two side-events to update the water community on the results of the recent High Level Meeting (HLM) and the way forward for the Partnership. The SWA Steering Committee and CSOs, both internal meetings, also gathered.

Side-event: "Innovations in Sustainability for Water and Sanitation Services"

Six months after the 3rd HLM, and a year before the world is poised to establish sustainable development goals, partners of SWA hosted a side event on Monday 1st September which:

Provided an update to partners and the water community on the 3rd HLM. This side event at Stockholm will provide an in-depth analysis of the commitments made at the recent HLM. Building on the continuing dialogue resulting from the 2012 HLM and the progress reported in 2013 and 2014, the 2014 HLM achieved unprecedented political attention. It was a major milestone as developing countries, donors and development banks identified and committed to address key bottlenecks.

Showcased innovations in sustainability in water and sanitation. Many innovations for WASH service sustainability will be featured in an “SWA Market-place”: Partners will present their innovations in WASH in small stalls.

Off-site side-event: Open Consultation on SWA Review

The SWA Steering Committee has engaged consultants to conduct an external review in order to assess SWA’s progress towards its objectives; review the appropriateness of the existing activities, operational management and governance structures; and review options for the future direction of the Partnership in the post-2015 era. This open consultation was the opportunity to discuss the main conclusions of the review.
