SWA appoints Joost Kooijmans as Chief Operating Officer

SWA is proud to announce the appointment of Joost Kooijmans as Chief Operating Officer.

Joost has worked in a variety of different sectors within various countries before joining SWA. He worked at UNICEF as Advisor on International Financial Institutions and as a Senior Advisor on Child Labour UNICEF. Prior to joining UNICEF, he was the Special Assistant to the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence against Children in New York. He also worked as Senior Legal Officer and Labour Standards Specialist at the International Labour Organization  in Geneva and Southern Africa, and a human rights officer at the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. Joost holds a Master’s degree in Public International Law from Leiden University, the Netherlands.

As the SWA Secretariat’s first Chief Operating Officer, Joost will oversee the Secretariat’s day to day operations and manage staff in support of SWA’s strategy and strategic objectives, as well as provide support the CEO in high level advocacy.
