On the occasion of the SWA Ministerial Meeting, the Ethiopian Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Electricity organized a field visit for local press and international correspondents to different water, sanitation and hygiene projects. The visit was held in the town of Wukro, in the northern Tigrey Region, and had a particular focus on urban and peri-urban WASH. The group of journalists was able to see first-hand the technology that brings fresh water from the ground in difficult terrain, the behavioral change programmes that teach children good hygiene practices, as well as the innovative landfill solutions that close the cycle.
