In an official Statement to the UN General Assembly, the High Level Panel on Water (HLPW) acknowledged the contribution of SWA in spurring progress on SDG 6, especially through the partnership’s Framework of Action, that encompasses the Collaborative Behaviours and the Building Blocks. The Panel also encouraged all countries to join SWA. The Statement reads:

The Panel recognises the importance of the efforts of the global WASH community and encourages all existing partnerships to share their knowledge and experience in order to effectively implement the SDG targets. The Panel welcomes the contribution of the Sanitation and Water for All partnership, which complements the work of the HLPW. The Panel encourages governments that are in a position to do so to join this partnership. The Panel further acknowledges that SWA has developed a Framework for Action that includes both what needs to be done in the WASH sector, and how to do it, based on strong government leadership, working through country systems and policies.

The HLPW is convened by the UN Secretary-General and President of the World Bank Group and consists of 11 sitting Heads of State and Government and one Special Adviser. The core focus is the commitment to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all, Sustainable Development Goal 6, as well as to contribute to the achievement of the other SDGs that rely on the development and management of water resources.
